As temperatures rise, so should our awareness around food waste.

Summer is synonymous with carefree moments, getaways in nature, and shared meals with friends and family. It’s also a season full of social and professional activity—corporate events, business dinners, receptions, and conferences often fill our calendars.

Amid this positive atmosphere, a silent consequence is often overlooked: food waste. From family outings and picnics to large-scale professional events, vast quantities of food end up in the trash. Whether due to overestimated orders or miscalculated catering plans, the outcome is the same—valuable resources are wasted for no reason.

Food waste is more than a matter of household management. It’s a challenge with social, environmental, and economic implications. Food that could cover basic needs is discarded. At the same time, the environment is burdened by the production and distribution of resources that are never consumed.

That’s why raising awareness must begin both at home and in the workplace. Especially in professional settings, responsible planning and organization can significantly reduce waste. Choosing high-quality but realistic quantities, proper storage, and collaborating with social organizations to redistribute surplus food—these practices not only reduce waste but also help build a responsible corporate image.

At ADUS, we believe that responsibility is not a choice but a way of life. We actively invest in initiatives that promote sustainability and encourage a culture of social awareness at both personal and professional levels.

This summer, let’s enjoy what we have with respect—for those around us and for the environment. Because every meal that isn’t wasted is a step toward a more responsible world.

At ADUS, we are proud to be a key partner of BOROUME, an organization actively working to reduce food waste in Greece. If you would like to learn how you can get involved or support their initiatives, visit www.boroume.gr.
